CATTLE – Brazilian shipments of in natura beef remained firm in September, favoring the upward trend for prices in the domestic market.
Exports generated USD 1.136 billion in September, 28.4% more than in the same month last year, according to data from Secex. From January to September, the revenue was USD 8.3 billion, 21% up compared to the same period in the year before.
China was responsible for roughly 50% of the value in dollar obtained with Brazilian beef sales in September, 28% more than in August/24.
The demand from the United States for the Brazilian beef practically doubled in 2024 (between January and September), while that from the United Arab Emirates increased by almost three times.
Exports of in natura beef rose 30% from January to September this year in relation to that verified in the same period in 2023, while the average price in dollar downed 6.4% in the same comparison.
PRICES IN BRAZIL – In September, prices in the cattle market increased and compensated for losses verified this year. The significant dry weather and wildfires reduced sharply the supply of animals raised in pastures in the month, but the demand was firm.
The CEPEA/B3 Index for fed cattle (São Paulo State) rose 14.4% in September, closing at BRL 274.35 on Sept. 30. In the first fortnight of October, quotations upped 9.08%. In the wholesale market of beef in the Greater São Paulo, beef carcass prices moved up 12.18% in September and 11.66% in the first 15 days of October.
SWINE – Brazilian exports of pork meat (in natura and industrialized products) totaled 119 thousand tons in September, 1.7% more than in August and 7% above the volume observed in September 2023. The revenue amounted BRL 1.56 billion last month, increasing 2.3% and 29.5% in the same comparisons – data from Secex. Comparing January to September this year, Brazil shipped 980.2 thousand tons, moving up 7.7% in relation to that registered in the same period last year.
POULTRY – As it is usually observed in the beginning of the month, the demand for chicken products increased. As a result, prices of chicken meat and the live animal moved up in many regions surveyed by Cepea. In other areas, the imbalance between supply and demand resulted in slight price drops.
