CATTLE – Brazilian beef exports totaled 423.608 thousand tons in the first two months of 2025, upping 3.7% compared to that verified in the same period last year – data from Secex. In the beginning of 2024, the increase had been at 25% compared to the same period of 2023.
China is the destination of almost half of the volume sent by Brazil to the international market. This year, purchases from the country dropped 4.5% compared to the first two months of 2024, different from what was observed from 2023 to 2024 (+12.8%).
The demand from other purchasers has also been increasing. This year, the United States purchased 33% more beef from Brazil compared to the first two months of 2024 – from 2023 to 2024, the increase had been at 25%.
DOMESTIC MARKET – The average beef price rose 0.41% in the partial of March (between February 28 and March 14), closing at BRL 21.92/kg on March 14 in the wholesale market of the Greater São Paulo. The CEPEA/ESALQ Index for fed cattle (São Paulo state) downed 0.4% in the same comparison, at BRL 309.70.
SWINE – Live swine and pork meat quotations moved down in the first fortnight of March. Purchasers reduced the pace of new trades of live animal due to the low liquidity of pork meat sales.
EXPORTS – Brazilian shipments of pork meat (both in natura and processed products) dropped slightly in January, but increased in February. Both the volume exported and the amount received with trades hit a record for the month of February, according to the series from Secex, which has started in 1997.
POULTRY – Quotations of chicken meat increased in the first fortnight of March in most areas surveyed by Cepea. The typical demand increase in the beginning of the month, due to the higher purchase power because of the receiving of wages, boosted values. Players surveyed by Cepea say that the pace of sales increased after carnaval.
