2024/25 season registers higher prices compared to the last crop

Cepea, April 2, 2025 – Although prices for both hydrous and anhydrous ethanol dropped in March, the last month of the offseason, average values were higher in the accumulated of the 2024/25 season compared to those verified in the last crop.

 

The demand for hydrous ethanol increased in the end of the current season, due to the good advantage of the biofuel at pumps, which sustained prices between December/24 and February/25.

 

From April/24 to March/25, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for hydrous ethanol averaged BRL 2.6587/liter, upping steeply 9.3% compared to the same period in the year before, in real terms (values were deflated by the IGP-M – March). As for anhydrous ethanol, the CEPEA/ESALQ Index (spot + contracts) averaged BRL 3.0007/liter, for an increase of 7.8% in the same comparison. In the previous crop, the averages were at BRL 2.4320/liter (hydrous) and at BRL 2.7831/liter (anhydrous), in real terms.

 

Considering the full weeks of March, the average of the CEPEA/ESALQ Index for hydrous ethanol closed at BRL 2.7884/liter, 2.08% down compared to February. As for anhydrous ethanol (sales in the spot market only), the average closed at BRL 3.1907/liter, downing 1.69%.
