Prices paid to producers rise 3.3% in February

Publicidade

Cepea, April 2, 2025 – The price of the milk produced in February closed at BRL 2.7734/liter on the “Brazil Average”, moving up 3.3% compared to the month before and 18.1% in relation to February/24, in real terms (values were deflated by the IPCA – February). This is the second month in a row of price rises, boosted by the competition among industry plants for the raw material.

The competition increase for the raw milk, in turn, is explained by the supply decrease in that month, especially because of unfavorable weather conditions (high temperatures and dry weather). The Cepea Milk Production Index (ICAP-L) dropped 4.6% between January and February.

At the same time, players surveyed by Cepea say that the demand for dairy products increased in February, which, along with price rises of the raw milk, boosted average quotations of UHT milk and mozzarella cheese in the wholesale market of São Paulo.

It is worth noting that, despite the limited supply, exports of dairy products upped almost 27% from January to February, totaling 6.2 million liters (milk equivalent). Imports, in turn, continued to increase (+3.76%), hitting 216.2 million liters (milk equivalent).
