Cepea, June 3, 2025 – The price of the milk produced in April closed at BRL 2.7415/liter on the net “Brazil Average”, downing 3.3% compared to that in the month before. Still, the price is 5.7% higher than that verified in the same period last year, in real terms (quotations were deflated by the IPCA from April/25).
The decrease takes place in an atypical moment, but it is justified by the supply increase and by the low demand (from consumers) for dairy products. Cepea research performed with the support of the OCB (Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives) indicates that the pace of sales of dairy products slowed down more than what was expected in April.
The supply remained firm, despite the proximity of the offseason period. The Cepea Milk Production Index (ICAP-L) increased 3% from March to April in the “Brazil Average”.
Although feeding costs continued high, variations have been smaller this year compared to other periods.
